GoDaddy Review

With over 57 million domains under their management and serving more than 12 million customers, GoDaddy is the largest domain registrar of the world. And in case you didn’t know, they also offer web hosting services with all the features you can think of. But don’t expect to get everything in the basic plan; most of the advanced level features are optional and come at additional cost.

Godaddy focuses on helping individuals set up new businesses. They offer various advertising credits and many useful tools so that a first time user can create a website on their own without any hassle. But their advertising campaigns till recently were too flashy to go with their business. After courting with controversies with their Super Bowl and elephant shooting commercials, they have now finally moved over to more business oriented commercials and also redesigned their website to suit their ‘champion of small business’ image.

The Company

Godaddy was founded by Bob Parsons in the year 1997. To put it in their own style, the company is almost as old as the internet. They have their headquarters located in Scottsdale, Arizona and have 14 facilities worldwide including in California, Iowa, Washington, Europe and India. Their office in Sunnyvale (California) is spread over an area of whopping 40,000 sq ft.

Godaddy employs as many as 4,000 personnel to run their operations. They have multiple datacenters across US, Europe, Asia and Australia.

They have also incorporated the culture of philanthropy into their business. They have partnered with various non-profit organizations to promote education, STEM and entrepreneurship. Apart from helping through monetary contributions, grants and sponsorships, they also offer free and discounted products to their philanthropy partners. The employees are given paid off to volunteer in fundraising, mentoring and other community services.

As a GoDaddy customer, you too are given an opportunity to do your bit for the society. Each time you place an order, you are given an option to round off the invoice to the nearest dollar and contribute the difference to the charity of your choice. Given the strength of 12 million customers, the round off manages to collect sizeable amounts for charity on a regular basis.
